Annapurna Base Camp Trek Journey


When you think about the most important things to do in Nepal, ABC is always on the second after EBC and why not? It has always been every trekker’s dream to explore the stunning scenery ABC offers. Annapurna Base Camp Trek is an adventure that every trekker must attempt to achieve during their lifetime of trekking. Reaching ABC is comparatively easier than Mount Everest Base Camp trek, however things must not be taken Easy! Mother nature as always is unpredictable, you might run through some tough times while on the route. Hence trekkers are strictly advised to take all the basic equipment, food stashes just in case for emergency situations and the most importantly stay cautious at all times.

Trekking to Annapurna base camp normally takes 7 to 10 days (up and down), depending upon trekker’s pace. The route to ABC is filled with gorgeous landscapes, bamboo forests and mesmerising thick Rhododendron forest. Trekkers are bound to view the endless Breath taking sceneries  and experience diverse tribe cultures along the way. Trekking in Nepal is always a life time experience where people not only get to feel the adventure and thrill of undisputed mountains, they get to absorb various tribal cultures and embrace national diversity.

Now, let’s go to the basics of the ABC trek! First things first, trekkers will be dropped at Pokhara through flight or by bus from Kathmandu. It normally takes about  six -seven hours by bus and 30 minutes by flight, both of the commute medium is comfortable, so there is no hard choices to be made! Once trekkers arrive at Pokhara they will be taken for a 3 hours’ drive to Kimche and from here, the official trek begins. After a short one hour walk from Kimche trekkers will arrive at Ghandruk village, final destination for the day.

The next day is a rough one! On the second day trekkers will walk for about six to seven hours, they will start from Ghandruk to Komrong Danda and from there to Chomrong village. There will be numerous climbing and downhill walking at this phase of the route, finally after all the ups and downs trekkers will reach Sinuwa (2340m). Trekkers will spend the night at a lodge and prepare for the next day.

After a good night sleep, trekkers will now head to Deurali! The third day is mostly uphill walk, trekkers are advised to warm up and have enough food for the trek. As the day is mostly filled with uphill climb, trekkers might get exhausted and it would be a good idea to take sufficient water and snacks for the road! Basically trekkers will walk from Sinuwa to Himalayan via Bamboo and Dovan and finally they reach Deurali (3200m) whichis  7-8 hours walk.

Now on the fourth day, trekkers will move from Deurali to ABC passing from Machhapuchhre Basecamp. It is minimum of 6 hours  walk from Deurali, depending upon the pace that trekkers are willing to put on! This whole journey is a full uphill walk and trekkers will find themselves at 4,130m. Now having reached ABC, trekkers can enjoy the full view of Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Gangapurna and other various famous mountain ranges.

Well done trekkers; you have now reached your destination Annapurna Base Camp, now all you need to do is enjoy the view and relax for the night. Get your selfie sticks and cameras out and start bursting! Get a good night sleep and embrace the view as you will be heading back on the 5th day and it is all descend from here on. Trekkers will head down from ABC to Bamboo , from Bamboo to Kyumi on the sixth day and finally Kyumi to Pokhara or Kathmandu!

Mt. Everest Base Camp Trek Journey


The journey to EBC starts from Kathmandu, a short 30 minutes flight from the capital city to Lukla initiates the EBC expedition. As the flight lands in Lukla of Khumbu region; trekkers may take some rest and have food made available by the locals. There are variety of meal options at the local market for both vegetarians and those who love meat; though, trekkers are advised to refrain from eating meat products as probability of getting an upset stomach is high.

So the journey to EBC has officialy started, now the next step is to get to Phakding and this would normally take about 2 to 3 hours. Trekkers will walk along the bank of the famously known Dudh Koshi river and steadily climb the generous mountain, this is very modest climb. There are few suspension bridges along the way, this is quite a decent walk and not much of a challenge. After continuing for another 2 or so hours you will reach Monjo village.

After spending a night at Monjo Village, trekkers will now head to Namche bazar, this may take upto 3 to 4 hours depending upon your pace! It is an easy walk as Namche Bazar is quite near to Monjo Village. The uphill climbing starts once you cross the two of the famous suspension bridges know to trekkers, after reaching to the other end you will need to climb for another two hours. Now you will reach the checkpoint where you need to make your registrations and other official clearings. You are now only ten minutes away from Namche Bazar!  This is your final destination to get all the last moment gears, cash and food that you require for the next couple of days. While you are at Namche bazar, you can stroll around and go visit the local places, Buddhist monasteries and experience the local Sherpa culture.

The next day starts early, expect this walk to get moderately difficult than the last one! At first it is a downhill walk but after a while it is all up and up, if you did not get the opportunity to see Everest while you were in Namche ,then along the way now you have the chance to see the glorious mountain peeking through the smaller ranges. As you walk for an hour, you will reach Sanasa then continue towards the north east. As the trek progress through the trail for another couple of hours; trekkers will now reach Tengboche. This trek may take upto 5 hours.

After having rest and a good night sleep, trekkers will now head to Dingboche which takes about 4 hours to reach and is one of the shortest and easiest trek amongst all of the above and the one to come! Trekkers may start to feel the altitude from this point, as this place is 4,400m above sea level.

Now the next destination is Lobuche, this is a hard climb. As the altitude begins to raise it gets harder for trekkers to gain speed. For this reason trekkers are advised to spend a day at Dingboche for acclimatization and as you climb higher to Dukla that’s at 4500m, the trek gets even more challenging. After getting through all the challenges you will reach Lobuche.

We are getting there! This is the final walk that every EBC trekkers dream of, it will take a minimum of 6 hours to reach EBC from Lobuche. Trekkers must first reach Gorakshep and then pass to Mount Everest Base Camp. Trail from Lobuche to Gorakshep is all about maintaining your pace, this trial consist of both flat and uphill climb for about three hours straight. Trekkers will head northeast and then  finally reach the most awaited Mount Everest Base Camp!

It is a tough and challenging trail but it’s worth taking the risk! How many people in the world can proudly say that they have been up close to Mount Everest? Well, take this as a challenge or an opportunity; all that counts in the end is your will power and the endurance you have to take up a quest and acing it!! Trekking in Nepal is always a fun and challenging thing to do and this EBC trek tops the list!

The chariot festival of Seto Machhindranath from Kathmandu, Nepal is said to have been started by King Pratap Malla. Rhapsodic-ally dancing to the drum circle, religious hymns and in the midst of the crowd the moving temple (chariot with Seto Machhindranath) ginger up the spiritual vibes with perfect colour and excitement to the people's life, sweetening the independence of postive energy.

The four wheels moving temple is of 13 stories, each stories having its own meaning. Holding its stability with triangular shape tower is constructed with total length of 32 haat (Traditional Measuring Technique, 32 Hands) and the circular wheels of diameter of 16 haat. The construction is done by the troop of Maharjan Brothers using only the woods joined or tied together using local vine without even using a single iron nails.

The Four wheels are symbolic representation of the four Bhairabs - Yamantak (Black), Pragyantak (White), Padmantak (Red) and Bigmantak (Blue) and the idol of Seto Machhindranath inside the chariot. The festival of the moving temple is the procession of Seto Machhindranath in Kathmandu Valley routing:

Day 2 : Ason - Balkumari - Janabahal (Kel Tole, HomeTown of Seto Machhindranath) - IndraChowk - Makhan Tole - HanumanDhoka

This festival is supposed to be sharing rhythm to increase the strength of unity and harmony among the caste groups of the valley. This festival is also supposed to be producing the musicians, artist, positive vibes, peace and harmony. Eventually this festival is supposed to be reflecting the art of living along the rhythm sharing music with relevant dancing to the tunes and the positive energy.
